Initially, he took after the parents and studied civil engineering at the Federal University of Paraná for four and half years. Ultimately, he discovered that he was more inclined to emerging information technologies. At this point, he viewed his parents as more of spiritual inspirations, motivating him to create things from scratch, like they did. Haroldo Jacobovicz founded Microsystem, a company that failed to adapt to the world of information technology. The company was founded by three friends with deep knowledge in the field. His vision was for information technology to shape the entire world. Exxon Mobil (known as Esso by then) discovered huge potential in his ideas and foresaw the future prospects of his technologies and employed him out of a pool of 200 engineers.
Haroldo Jacobovicz’s typical day revolves around creating effective practices. He commits his full energy to all the happenings from dawn to dusk. He would always invite a person for lunch to build a rapport with them, that way he gets to understand their life when not in the company. He also loves reading and reads quite a number of great books, but he reads more of current affairs magazines, journals and newspapers about his trade and the entire world. His favorite quote is “Fall seven times, stand up eight.” He says this is a well-known quote, but which holds special relevance for him because of what he witnessed in his life. He opines that companies that prosper are those that continue to try, even after others have given up.
